Sheep Class
Welcome to our Reception/Year 1 class
We are called Sheep class, after the parable of the Lost Sheep, and every child matters to us, just as every sheep mattered to Jesus. But don’t let our name fool you..we may start off in Reception as lambs, but through our first two years at school we learn to be independent, inquisitive and imaginative young learners! We have a lovely classroom, filled with quality resources and inspiring activities to get stuck into, plus a brand new domestic role-play room (complete with kitchen, lounge and bedroom areas!). We are also very lucky to have a huge, wooded outdoor area where children can get cooking in our mud-kitchen, get building in our large construction area, or simply curl up and listen to our teacher, Mrs Gkikopoulos, read us a great book in our cosy reading shack. There really is something for every kind of sheep in our class!
Curriculum Planning
Snow Maths!
The snow inspired our maths learning! We made Snowball number sentences, counted footprints, created our own snowmen pictures with different amounts of buttons and even noticed different patterns and shapes!
Vet visit
We have been learning all about pets and how to care for them. We had a very special visitor this week – we asked lots of questions, learnt how to bandage a paw and even used a stethoscope!

Jelly Bean Porridge
After exploring oats in our creative area, we started talking about how our grown ups make porridge at home. Bird Spotters!
This week the children have been fascinated with birds! As part of the Big Schools’ Bird Watch we made our own bird feeders and have been busy recording the different birds that have visited us in school!
First ever Christian Values certificate at North Elmham School!
Congratulations! A very special certificate was presented today in Collective Worship. When his peers could not decide who should put the pencils away, he intervened and reminded them that “We work as a team in this school, so work together to put the pencils away.”
Learning to draw birds
Here is just a sample of the wonderful birds we have been learning to draw as part of the Big Schools’ Bird watch. Fantastic concentration and attention to detail. We just love them – what talented children we have!
Big schools’ Birdwatch
Sheep and Whales class had a very productive afternoon preparing to take part in the RSPB’s Big Schools’ Birdwatch.
